| The role of HR is changing for everyone.
With the introduction of a new HR shared service model, some HR activities
are being transferred to the responsibility of the line manager; making
recruitment decisions, managing performance and absence, keeping track
of holiday entitlements. HR advice and guidance professionals are responding
by changing the emphasis of their role; becoming an ‘expert friend’
who helps manage the risk involved with the HR decision, rather than
the decision-maker. The ‘expert friend’ must adapt to use a strong coaching approach to support the transfer of responsibility for implementing HR policies to line managers who are sometimes unwilling to take it on due to lack of resources, skills or confidence. Our tailored coaching programmes are designed to enable HR advice and guidance professionals in HR shared service centres to recognise when coaching is appropriate, to build and nurture coaching relationships and ultimately to transfer to line managers the responsibility and confidence to implement policy effectively and without blame. |
